For 23 years I have been mistaken about the Hillsborough Disaster. I have been under the impression that the tragedy of that day centred on the death of 96 innocent people.
My thoughts have been with those 96 and their friends and families who have been the victims of cruel smears and a cover-up carried out by the South Yorkshire Police.
What I hadn’t realised is that the real victim all along was former Sun editor Kelvin MacKenzie. Today he sought an apology from the police for misleading him.
They must have totally misled him because while other papers simply reported the Police smears as only allegations he printed them as “THE TRUTH”. So misled was Mr MacKenzie that as recently as 2006 he was still stating that he had reported the truth.
He has since been vilified but then how is a newspaper editor supposed to know the truth? If only Mr Mackenzie had had access to a large amount of investigate resources, then he could have searched out those answers and corrected his mistake.
So pity poor Kelvin, rather than spending the last 23 years fighting to clear a love ones name against an often indifferent establishment he has been having a profitable career in the Media.
